The decision you are making at 11pm is not really "how sick is this" — it is "which building, and what will it cost." Those are two different questions and the second one has better documentation than most people expect.

Emergency departments near here

• NYC Health + Hospitals / Woodhull760 Broadway, Brooklyn 11206. Its emergency department states it keeps separate areas for adults, children, and psychiatric patients. Main line 718-963-8000.
• Wyckoff Heights Medical Center374 Stockholm Street, Brooklyn 11237. Opened a renovated, expanded pediatric emergency department in November 2025 as the first phase of a larger project.
• NYU Langone KiDS Emergency Department570 First Avenue, Manhattan. A dedicated children's emergency department, open 24 hours, staffed by pediatric emergency doctors and nurses. Across the bridge, but for parts of Williamsburg it is not a long trip.

A caution worth writing down: an outpatient practice with a hospital's name on the door is not an emergency department. If it does not say emergency, it is not one.

Urgent care is not the emergency room, and the difference is money

The State Attorney General's own consumer guidance is unusually direct about this. A basic urgent care visit runs around $100. But hospital-affiliated urgent care centers may add a facility fee, which the Attorney General puts at anywhere from $25 to several hundred dollars.

• "Accepts" and "participates" are not the same wordA center that accepts your insurance may still balance-bill you. A center that participates with your plan cannot. Ask which one, using those words.
• Ask about the facility fee before you are seenNot after.

What you are protected from in an emergency

• New York-regulated plansFor emergency services at a hospital, you owe only your normal in-network cost sharing, even if the doctor is out of network. That covers the physicians, the hospital, and continued inpatient care after you are admitted.
• Self-funded employer plansIf the plan was issued after 1 January 2022, the federal No Surprises Act covers you. Issued before that, you get only the state's dispute process, not automatic protection.
• Federal floorThe No Surprises Act bans balance billing for most emergency services and caps what you pay at in-network cost sharing.
• If you are uninsured, you are not automatically protectedYou have to file a dispute yourself. There is a filing fee of up to $395, waived if household income is under 250% of the federal poverty level.

Pharmacies

As of 1 August 2026, checking the chain pharmacies' own store locators, there is no 24-hour pharmacy in 11211 or 11222. The nearest 24-hour locations the Walgreens locator returned were in Manhattan and Queens. This was a check of the likeliest candidates, not of every pharmacy in both zip codes — if you know of a late-night independent, that belongs here.
